Reflective Product Instructions

 The manufacturer recommends 5-6 pounds of beads per gallon of paint. The beads are to be dropped on top of the paint while the paint is still wet. The Paint should be thick enough to hold the beads on the surface.  Do not mix beads into paint or cover beads with any kind of top or clear coat. Outside temperatures should be above 55 degrees F.

 CLEAN THE SURFACE   The surface that the tape will be applied to must be clean.   To ensure that the area is clean a rag use isopropyl alcohol to wipe down the surface.  APPLYING THE MATERIAL   Peel the backing off the material. Peel as you apply. Do not peel off more than you can work with at one time.   Lay the material down using your fingers to press it onto the surface. (Avoid laying the tape down and up.)  Using a squeegee or similar object gently smooth the tape down to the surface.

Clean Surface with Isopropyl alcohol. Place letters where you want by putting small pieces of tape on top of the transfer tape. Fold the transfer tape up slowly peeling the backing off to apply letters. Start at top and press letters to surface. Use squeegee or cloth press the transfer tape and letters then slowly peel off transfer tape.

Iron your material or garment.  Cut your tape to the length you want and lay it liner side up where you would like it on the garment. (Before you start ironing remove the blue liner if there is one) Press the iron down firmly on the strip and heat the tape for 5 - 8 seconds working your way along the tape. Do not remain in one place for one time.  Let tape cool, then peel off the clear protective layer. If you find that the tape has not adhered properly lay the tape back down and redo.

Heat press or iron (Household iron is fine) Our letters come with a Teflon protective layer.  Press down with firm medium Heat 325-350 for 10-20 seconds.  Peel off carrier carefully.  Wash on gentle cycle cold water mild detergent. No bleach. To prolong life of reflectivity always line dry.

 Lightning Brand Paint is RETRO-REFLECTIVE meaning it directs light back to the source. To see reflection your eyes must be at the same level as the light source (like headlights on a car.) To test take a flash picture or hold a light up to your eyes. Lightning Brand is NOT GLOW IN THE DARK PAINT.  Shake or stir for 30 seconds.  APPLICATION AND SURFACE PREPARATION   Apply LIGHTLY, one coat with brush(Foam Brush) Surfaces must be clean. Permissible temperatures 50 - 90 degrees F.
